First Place: Baby Finger Painting

And here is the winning entry in the January Art. Life. Contest!

This is a variation of finger painting - fun enough by itself, but can be even funner-er.

Buy a roll of butcher paper.  I usually get it from Costco.  Comes in a white roll and is about 24" wide. Shiny side is great for using forfinger painting.
Roll it out so you have about 6-8 feet of paper and hang it up.  I used to attach it with masking tape to a porch railing.  Thus, you have a large canvas.
Get non-toxic finger paints.  The fingers are not the only interesting part of the body to a baby.  With the large canvas, you can put the paint on the baby's feet and watch as they stamp on the canvas.  You can paint their ear, forehead, butt, elbow, knee, toes, nose, etc.  You get the point.
They love seeing their different body parts painted with fun bright colors and then reproduced on canvas.  You can also have them add water, apple juice, milk, or any other liquid to the canvas to smudge their imprints. Have a hose handy!

Submitted by Mary Jo Strnad:  Mother of 6, Lawyer,  and.....full disclosure....she's my Mom...and the one responsible for teaching me to put two spaces after every period.  Congratulations Mom!!

Dr. Dad = My darling husband.    The Great Tubaloo, or the GT = what we like to call our son (rhymes with "tube of glue".) Note, it's a title, not a name.  as in "The Great and Almighty Tubaloo who has traveled from from over the mountain to impart his wisdom!"
